What are you looking for in your Jewish life that you're not yet finding?
How do we build community around it?
I founded The Spark Wisconsin because of one fundamental belief: that deep within each of us lies a religious spark waiting to be ignited and, once ignited, will help fill our lives with meaning and purpose. The Spark Wisconsin understands you and works with you to create unforgettable Jewish experiences designed to ignite your and your family’s personal Jewish spark. The Spark Wisconsin experience provides Jewish connection and community that is specifically relevant to your life.
If you are like many Jews across Milwaukee, Wisconsin, or the United States, then you might feel like you haven’t learned enough or don’t know enough to be “good” Jews. Let me assure you that that is not the case. Everyone is an expert on Judaism, born of your experiences in your life. The Spark Wisconsin brings together people just like you, meeting you where you are, no matter what your Jewish background or knowledge is. There is no denomination, no judgment, and no set way to be Jewish.
Whatever your particular wants and needs are, The Spark Wisconsin works with you to craft your own unique — and uniquely Jewish — experiences. Imagine fun family Shabbat services and dinners or creative holiday celebrations, inspiring life-cycle events or community service activities… or maybe you just want to learn more about being Jewish. The Spark Wisconsin will help you activate your own Jewish energy with transformative Jewish programs that are authentic for you and that make Judaism come alive.

Rabbi Moishe Steigmann
The vision of The Spark Wisconsin is not a redefinition of Judaism but rather an effort to focus intently on what is truly central to Judaism. Rather than getting lost in the minutia of our tradition and the myriad laws and regulations that, for many people, make Judaism a burden rather than a joy, The Spark Wisconsin seeks to appreciate Judaism on a common-sense level and to live out the core principles of our tradition in an accessible way.
Simply put: we’re all just Jewish. We don’t benefit from labels, and the open and welcoming mindset of The Spark Wisconsin liberates us from centuries of layers of Jewish dogma and frees us to focus on the original spirit — and intent — of Judaism.
Absolutely! Judaism has always treasured a diversity of opinions and customs. And we are certainly empowered to create our own unique ones!
The Spark Wisconsin can customize your experience based on your budget.
There is no such thing as a “good” or a “bad” Jew: there is only a Jew. I believe in celebrating who each one of is and what each one of us does — and Judaism is the same.
You’re in luck: Wisconsin boasts a rich array of Jewish organizations and institutions — synagogues, schools, JCC, young adult groups, and many more! — that you can explore. I’d be happy and honored to introduce you to any of them.
Yes! The Spark Wisconsin is a certified non-profit organization, and all contributions are tax deductible.
Anywhere! The Spark Wisconsin has no physical address or building. Why? Because Judaism can — and does! — happen everywhere and with the same meaning and value. We’ll determine the best location for a specific program on an as-needed basis.
